Walters wins Day 1 of WPCA races

MEDICINE HAT, AB — John Walters is currently the man to beat at the World Professional Chuckwagon Association Tour.

The 2015 Medicine Hat champion finished at the top of the leaderboard on the first day of races at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Thursday night.

Walters posted a time of 1:03.28 in the second heat of the night.

Jordie Fike and Doug Irvine tied for second and third place. Both racers completed the course with a time of 1:03.78.

Obrey Motowylo placed fourth with a time of 1:03.76 and Cody Ridsdale rounded out the top 5 with a time of 1:03.82.

Luke Tournier, the defending champion in Medicine Hat, finished in 16th place with a time of 1:04.64.

The second day of racing begins Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. Tickets can be purchased here. 

The top three drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night’s races will compete for the championship on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
