LETHBRIDGE, AB — Tyler Shumpert closed out the Medicine Hat Mavericks seventh consecutive win with ease.

Tasked with the final two outs of the contest, the Houston, TX native earned his second save of the season in a 9-7 Mavs victory over the Lethbridge Bulls on Tuesday night in Spitz Stadium.

Shumpert relieved Junior Pimentel mid-ninth frame after Pimentel allowed Lethbridge to score on a pass ball, followed by a walk. Shumpert, playing his first season with the Mavs, held Lachlan Mayo at first base with a strikeout and a 4-3 final out to seal the win.

Impressively, the Mavericks allowed just a single walk all game, with five different arms testing their luck on the bump.

Medicine Hat is now 7-2 on the season, having not lost since last Monday's home opener against Brooks. They're undefeated after securing their first win and remain tied for first place in the West Division with Okotoks, who boast a similar record.

Lethbridge falls to 2-8 on the campaign and remain last place in the West.

Jaxson Hooge collected a Mavericks-high three RBI with one hit, while Carson Johnson and Nolan Rattai connected for a pair of hits through the game. Johnson also nabbed one RBI and a walk.

Mayo, along with Jesse Hilyard, brought in a pair of runs each for the Bulls, who lost to the Mavs for the second time this season. Mayo also went 4-for-3 at the dish, and Dylan Borman singled twice.

Next up for the Mavericks is a date with the Okotoks Dawgs for back to back contests on Wednesday and Thursday at Athletic Park. The winner of Wednesday's clash will take sole-possession of first place in the West. The game gets going at 7:05 p.m.
