Community Foundation awards over $216 thousand in grants

Medicine Hat, AB. –  A number of organizations, charities and school districts were the beneficiaries as the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta announced it’s grants at  the semi-annual at the Founder’s Day picnic.
 
$216,634 was distributed among a number of different groups. 
 
The Dunmore Equestrian Society received $15 thousand, as did the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank.
 
A grant of $10 thousand went to the Brooks Animal Protection Society.
 
There was also a funding announcement of $10,420 for the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter society.
 
Since it’s inception in 1992, the Community Foundation has given 11 hundred grants, totalling $5 to over 90 charities.
 
The money is generated from donations to the Foundation, which are then invested and the interest earned is distributed in the form of grants twice a year.
