MEDICINE HAT, AB — The local Rotary Club is celebrating 100 years in the community and city hall has helped recognize their hard work.

The Rotary flag was raised Monday morning outside of city hall.

President Karen Blewett said it’s symbolic of the last century of work.

The Rotary Club of Medicine Hat was incorporated on June 1st, 1918 and was the first service club in the city.

Blewett said Rotarians are proud of many projects they’ve helped with over the years.

“We’re very excited that we’ve done so many things over the years and, as community leaders, we’ve taken action in our community on so many, a variety of projects,” she said. “Some of the things that we’ve done as an example, the cenotaph, over here, we helped fundraise the last few dollars for the cenotaph.”

Blewett also highlighted the Rotary Music Festival and Carnival.

The Rotary Club will be participating in random acts of kindness all week to help celebrate 100 years in the city.
