Fire control order lifted in Cypress County

DUNMORE, AB — Cypress County has lifted the fire control order which has been in place since April.

The order was lifted at 10 a.m. on Friday due to the recent precipitation throughout the county. In some areas, approximately one inch of rain has fallen in the past two days.

Fire permits are once again being issued, but the county is reminding residents that extreme caution should always be maintained, and permitted burning must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Although the fire control order has been lifted in the county, it doesn’t impact any existing orders issued by cities and towns in the area, and doesn’t affect any fire bans in place in provincial parks. Current fire ban information can be found here.
