HALO gets new twin engine helicopter

May 31, 2018 | 11:18 AM

MEDICINE HAT – HALO Air Rescue showed off their new twin engine helicopter at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport Wednesday night.

The organization has been working for the past few years to get a larger helicopter in order to better serve the Palliser Health Region which covers 50,000 square kilometres.

HALO is the only dedicated medical rescue helicopter for southern Alberta and southwest Saskatchewan. It provides life-saving care to people who are in medical distress in remote areas.

This new helicopter will put HALO on the same playing field as other air ambulance services like STARS.

The new chopper is currently being retrofitted with all the life-saving equipment it needs before it becomes fully operational.

HALO also plans to keep its older helicopter in service, increasing its capacity to provide emergency medical response.
