SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Members of Medicine Hat’s contingent at the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Bowling Championships will be returning with medals around their necks and memories to last a lifetime.

Seven local bowlers wrapped up a week of competition on Saturday with the last chance to bring home hardware from the national event.

Mitchell MacDonald will be coming back to Medicine Hat with a pair of medals after winning gold in the M8 10-pin all-around event and a silver in the M8 10-pin individual division.

Team Alberta flag-bearer Chuck McDonald came up just short in the 10-pin disciplines, earning fifth and sixth place finishes in the individual and all-around events, respectively.

Five-pin bowling saw five local bowlers go for medals, with Sinjin Soper picking up a bronze medal in the M4 division.

Rylan Kersey finished just off the podium in the M3 division with a fifth-place finish, while Brydon Marchand (M9) and Liam Carter (M4) both ended their week with sixth-place showings.

Rounding out the Medicine Hat contingent was Blair Yuhas, who came away with a seventh-place finish in the M7 bracket.

Another ‘Hatter’ was on hand to help the Medicine Hat bowlers finish the tournament, as local coach Pat Enns led Team Alberta over the week in P.E.I.
