American Legion baseball returns to form this weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Another season of Medicine Hat American Legion baseball officially takes the diamond this weekend.

The “AA” Moose Monarchs take a trip to Vauxhall for the Academy Jets 12th Annual Invitational Tournament, while the “A” K of C Knights are in Lethbridge for the Ron Matthews Memorial.

A lot of questions surround the Knights, and how dawning a completely new roster will fair this season. The club is coming off an outstanding 2017 campaign, which saw them make it all the way to the semi-finals of the Montana “A” State Championship.

Not a single player from last year’s team is suiting up with the Knights this summer. All of which have either graduated from the American Legion program, or made the cut to play on the “AA” Monarchs.

The coaching staff remains unchanged, and caught up with CHAT Sports this week to discuss expectations for the upcoming season.

Plus, Director of Operations Lovell McDonnell explains the decision to ax the “B” Rotary Majestics this summer.
