City inspection of natural gas infrastructure underway

May 17, 2018 | 7:39 AM

Medicine Hat, AB – The City of Medicine Hat has started it’s annual assessment of it’s natural gas infrastructure.

This year’s survey will cover about 250 kilometers of underground gas mains, as well as over 77 hundred residential and commercial services.

To complete the survey, inspectors will need access to properties and because of the quantity of pipeline that must be walked, the city says it’s not possible to ask permission from each property owner before entering a yard.

Inspectors may work for the city or they could be a hired contractor.

They will inspect pipe, risers, regulators, meters or more , including taking pictures of the infrastructure.

Employees and contractors will wear photo i-d at all times and will present it upon request.

The inspection covers a wide area of the city.  Here’s a link to the maps from the city web-site showing the neighborhoods that will be part of the inspection.
