MEDICINE HAT — Firefighters battled a blaze Tuesday night in the community of Vista, in Medicine Hat.

Details are limited as crews are still assessing the damage.

The garage was destroyed in the fire, the rest of the home sustained minor damage.

All three fire stations responded to the call. During the height of the fire four fire trucks were on site, along with the fire investigator and platoon chief.

Fire officials said the blaze started in the attached garage of the home. The family was home at the time, but no injuries have been reported.

"Make sure that you have working smoke detectors," said fire investigator Grayson Smith. "Whether it's during the daytime hours or when you're sleeping at night, if they work they're going to let you know and get you out safely, which is what happened here."

Investigators are working to determine how the fire started.
