A 51-year-old man has been charged with speeding, after police caught his motorcycle travelling at 121 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Officers with photo radar were set up in the 3000 block of 13th Ave SE on Monday morning when the motorcycle ripped by.

Police were dispatched, but weren’t able to immediately find the driver.

The Medicine Hat Police Service says that area has a history of serious collisions and is considered one of the city’s higher-risk roads because of the congestion in traffic and busy crosswalks.

The same motorcycle was spotted by police a few hours later and was again travelling at excessive speeds.

Officers were able to conduct a vehicle stop and have charged the driver with two counts of speeding.

A police release states the driver will need to explain to court why he was travelling more than 70 km/h above the posted speed limit.
