LETHBRIDGE, AB – After failing to medal at the UCT Medicine Hat Tournament last weekend, the Monsignor McCoy Colts earned some redemption in Lethbridge.

McCoy shutout the host Chinook High Coyotes 15-0 on Saturday night to capture the Coyotes Tournament title.

Starting off slow with a 1-0 lead after two innings, the Colts went to work in the third inning with four runs to take a 5-0 commanding lead.

Adding a pair of runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, McCoy exploded for another six runs in the sixth to seal a 15-0 win.

Every Colts starter except one racked up at least one hit, with Ethan Boutkan going 2-for-3 with a game-high four RBIs.

Boutkan was a monster on the mound with a six inning showing, striking out 10 Coyotes batters while allowing just two hits.

Earlier in the day, the Colts bested their Medicine Hat rivals with a 12-2 victory over the Hat High Mohawks squad.

Ty Olinski had four RBIs in the victory, while Ethan Bartram got the win on the bump in a relief effort with just one hit allowed over three innings of work. Zach Stark meanwhile picked up the only RBI of the game for the Mohawks.

Medicine Hat High faces off against the Eagle Butte Talons on Tuesday night at Athletic Park with a 5:30 pm opening pitch, while the Colts are off until next weekend.

Meanwhile, it was a high scoring affair in the Tier II division with the JV Mohawks taking to the diamond against the South Central Scorpions in Foremost.

Leading 14-13 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Mohawks allowed an RBI single that cashed in two runs to give the Scorpions a walk-off 15-14 victory.

Lead-off man Cam Hall had a day at the plate despite the loss, going 2-for-3 with a game-high four RBIs to his name.

Dropping their record to 3-6 on the season, the JV Mohawks play their final exhibition game before playoffs on Monday against Magrath High.
