MEDICINE HAT, AB — Now that recycling carts are being delivered to homes, residents are being encouraged to begin using them.

Staggered delivery of carts is ongoing throughout the city, based on the current garbage collection zones. The first bins arrived in Crescent Heights on Tuesday.

Aluminum and tin cans, cardboard, mixed paper, beverage containers, newsprint, along with plastic grocery bags and household cleaners all be placed in recycling carts, and items do not need to be sorted.

Glass items cannot be placed in the carts, and still need to be taken to recycling bins around the city.

Recycling carts are picked up the same day as regular garbage, and collection will begin next week.

An information package has been sent out with the carts, and the city encourages residents to read the package, as it provides information about the program.
