Man charged with attempted murder after shots fired at Lethbridge home

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The Lethbridge Police Service has officially charged a 32-year-old man with attempted murder after shots were fired at a west Lethbridge home on Sunday.

Robert John Sheppard is facing four charges of attempted murder, along with one count each of discharging a firearm into a place, resisting arrest, careless use of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, pointing a firearm, assault, possession of an offensive weapon dangerous to the public, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm/weapon in a vehicle, possession of a firearm/weapon obtained by the commission of an offence and carrying a concealed weapon.

Officers were called to a home on Heritage Boulevard Sunday night after receiving reports of shots fired into the home. Four people were rescued from the home, but a suspect was not located. Officers move to a second home on Dalhousie Court, and learned the suspect had fled the city.

Sheppard was arrested by RCMP near Granum. A search of the vehicle turned up a rifle and ammunition.
