CALGARY, AB – The quest towards returning to the post-season began over the weekend for the Medicine Hat Sun Devils, kicking off lacrosse season with a pair of games in Calgary.

Opening their season against the Calgary Axemen on Saturday night, the Sun Devils suffered their first loss of the season by an 11-6 final score.

Medicine Hat only trailed by a count of 7-5 entering the third period, but the Sun Devils couldn’t keep the ball out of the net with five goals scored against over the last 20 minutes of play.

Last year’s leading scorer Aidan McLean had a pair of goals in the loss, while Mason Appell, Tegan Rogal, and Noah Weimer also contributed on the score sheet.

McLean added to his weekend dominance with another four goals, while Rogal and Daniel Drefs also had multi-goal games.

Starting the 2018 season with a 1-1 record, the Sun Devils return to Medicine Hat this upcoming weekend for their home openers.
