More road closures in County of 40 Mile

COUNTY OF 40 MILE, AB — More road closures have been announced due to overland flooding in the County of 40 Mile.

As of noon on Monday, the county announced the below list of roads have been closed and are impassable.

-TWP 74 between RR 123 & 125
-RR 125  between TWP 74 & 80
-TWP 84  between  RR 115 & 120
-RR 124 between  TWP 100 & 102
-TWP 104  between  RR 120 & 121
-TWP 104  between  RR 122 & RR 123
-RR 111 between TWP 94 & 100
-RR 101 between TWP 94 & 100
-RR 115 between TWP 100 & 102
-RR 122 between TWP 90 & 94
-TWP 92 between RR 121 & 123
-RR 105 between Twp 94 &  92
-TWP 92 between RR 104 &110

A news release from the county says they have currently run out of barricades to block access to flooded roads. Delineator posts, pylons and flags have been placed where no barricades are available. The county says they expect more barricades will arrive shortly.

Residents are reminded that moving or touching a barricade can be considered an offence, and people may be prosecuted. It is also considered an offence for private individuals to damage county roads to redirect water.

The issue is ongoing, and the county will send out updates if the situation changes.
