Power outage early Monday in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat, AB. – Some people might be late for work this morning as the power has been out for a portion of the city for a couple of hours.
 
City police say the outage started after 3 o’clock this morning  and affects the Flats as well as into the downtown area.
 
The cause is not known.  City electrical crews are working to fix it  but no estimate for when the power will return is available.
 
 
Update at 8:21 a.m.

 

The power is back on for some areas – but others remain without service.
 
Comments to our Facebook page say the power came back on for the River Flats neighborhood just before 8 o’clock this morning.
 
It went out sometime after 3 am — the cause has not been announced.
 
The extent of the outage hasn’t been made public – but it did impact parts of downtown Medicine Hat as well.
 
The City of Medicine Hat says 288 customers in the downtown area remain without power.

 

Update 8:29 am

The city of Medicine Hat says electric service has been restored for all customers affected.
