Bandits planning to honour Broncos ahead of Game 6 Sunday

BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits will be fighting for their season on Sunday night, but they’re also be taking time to honour their junior ‘A’ brothers in the Humboldt Broncos.

Before puck drop against the Okotoks Oilers in Game 6 of their AJHL semi-final series, the Bandits will be holding a moment of silence in honour of the 15 members of the Broncos who died in a bus crash on Friday.

The Bandits will also be setting up areas at the front entrance and around Centennial Regional Arena to accept cash and cheque donations that will go towards the Broncos organization and the families of players.

As of Sunday morning, a Go Fund Me account created to support the Saskatchewan-based club has raised close to $3.5 million.

Brooks is facing elimination on Sunday after dropping a 4-3 decision to the Okotoks Oilers on Friday evening and are now down 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.

Puck drop between the Bandits and Oilers is set for 7:00 pm, while the pre-game ceremony honouring the Broncos will be held shortly before.
