Man charged with running bicycle chop shop pleads guilty

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man at the centre of a bicycle theft ring broken up by police last summer has pleaded guilty.

Darcy Fisher entered pleas on charges of possession of stolen property in Medicine Hat provincial court on Thursday. He was handed a $1,000 fine and 12 months of probation, but will avoid jail time.

He will also have to attend drug treatment court in relation to drug trafficking charges.

Fishcer, 35, was arrested on August 24, 2017 at a home on Pottery Street SE following a month-long investigation by the Medicine Hat Police Service.

Officers seized 15 whole bicycles and multiple bicycles parts.

The estimated value of the stolen property was $3,000.
