MEDICINE HAT, AB — It’s been eight days since shots were fired at a home in the city’s northeast, and the Medicine Hat Police are still searching for a suspect.

Police responded to a home on Northlands Lane Northeast on Thursday March 29, shortly after 6 p.m. A black two-door vehicle, believed to be a mid-to-late 2000s Audi, fled the scene, and has not yet been located.

Staff Sgt. Chad Holt says the Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the shooting.

“We’re still following a couple of leads, we have a couple of people of interest that we’re looking at right now, but nothing solid enough to make an arrest or lay any charges at this point,” he said.

Police believe the incident was a targeted attack, and the general public is not at risk.

Holt adds Major Crimes is willing to dedicate as much resources as possible to find a suspect and make an arrest.

“Public safety is paramount in a case like this,” he said. “We don’t want anyone to be in any fear, or fear their safety when you have a situation where shots are fired in a residential neighbourhood. It’s a very scary situation, and we want to resolve it as soon as we can.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 403-529-8481.
