Cypress County CAO resigns

DUNMORE, AB — Cypress County is currently looking for a new chief administrative officer.

Reeve Richard Oster announced on Wednesday that current CAO Doug Henderson has resigned from his position with the county.

“As somebody made the comment, he bled county orange,” Oster said. “We just wanted to say best of luck in everything, and thank you for all the effort you’ve put into this county.”

Henderson handed in his resignation to the county on Tuesday.

Henderson has worked with the county for 35 years, and has been the CAO for two-and-a-half years.

Oster adds the county has nothing but positive things to say about Henderson’s role as CAO.

“When we were in council, the knowledge that man had was unbelievable,” he said. “He always had the answers, and he had the ability to work with nine different councillors, and i always found that amazing.”

Curtis Richter, currently the director of public works, will be assuming Henderson’s duties until an interim replacement is hired.
