Hounds win Peewee AA Provincial Championship

CALGARY, AB — The Medicine Hat Hounds are the Peewee AA Champions of Alberta.

Taking on the Springbank Rockies in the championship game on Sunday, Deegan Kinniburgh scored 17 seconds in the second overtime period to give the Hounds a 2-1 victory in the Championship game on Sunday to win the championship.

The game saw the Rockies strike first, with Aidan Larose scoring halfway through the first period for the 1-0 lead.

The Hounds battled back, with Gavin Smith scoring halfway through the third to send the game to overtime.

After the initial 10-minute overtime didn’t solve anything, the second overtime period was required.

Silas Currie made 30 saves to earn the win for the Hounds. Ethan Eskit made 35 saves for the Rockies.

During round robin play, the Hounds went 2-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Rockies.
