$125,000 announced for CAPE School

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Students at CAPE School were happy to hear about the grant money their school received on Wednesday, which will go toward a new playground.

Medicine Hat MLA Bob Wanner and Finance Minister Joe Ceci were in town to make the announcement.

The school’s parent council group had applied for the funding last year and heard in the fall they’d been selected.

The CAPE School is moving this fall, into the former north wing of Medicine Hat High School.

The $125,000 grant means the kids will have a place to play.

“We do plan to move the structure that we have and then add additional pieces,” said Amanda Sears, chair of the parent council. “One thing that we don’t have is swings and the children really wanted swings, so we’re going to add to that.”

Staff are hopeful the students will make the transition into the new school by January 2019.
