MEDICINE HAT, AB – A blow to the blueline for the Medicine Hat Tigers as they get ready to host the Brandon Wheat Kings for Game 2 of their series on Sunday.

Defencemen Dylan MacPherson and Linus Nassen are both expected to miss Game 2 against the Wheat Kings after suffering injuries in the first period of their 7-2 Game 1 win over Brandon on Friday night.

MacPherson went knee-on-knee with Brandon forward Baron Thompson midway through the opening frame and did not return, while Nassen also saw his night come to an early end.

According to head coach Shaun Clouston, Nassen is listed as day-to-day, while the team will be re-evaluating MacPherson early next week.

Even with both injuries, the Tigers still have six defencemen at their disposal with David Quenneville, Kristians Rubins, Dalton Gally, Cole Clayton, Joel Craven, and Trevor Longo on the playoff roster.

As of Saturday afternoon, Medicine Hat has not yet called up any prospects to fill in either MacPherson or Nassen’s positions.

Up 1-0 in their best-of-seven series, the Tigers will try for the weekend sweep in Game 2 on Sunday at the Canalta Centre at 6:00 pm.
