Medicine Hat man wins more than $265,000 in Lotto Max draw

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Medicine Hat man has recently claimed his winnings from a lottery ticket he purchased last summer.

Stuart Heather won $265,691 on a Lotto Max ticket he purchased in July, and claimed his winnings eight months later. His lottery win was announced on Wednesday.

“I knew I won just after the draw,” Heather was quoted in a news release. “I checked my ticket the next day, but I wasn’t really sure what to do.”

“So, I hid the ticket in my house and took it out to recheck it whenever I had other tickets to check on my phone.”

Heather’s win happened on the July 28 Lotto Max draw.

He says in the release that he will use the winnings to help pay down his mortgage.

According to the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, the ticket was purchased at the 13th Avenue Co-op gas bar.
