COCHRANE, AB – Members of the Monsignor McCoy Colts girls varsity basketball team will be bringing home some hardware back to Medicine Hat from 3A girls provincials.

On Saturday, the Colts rumbled to a 72-48 win over the Wetaskiwin Composite Sabres to earn a provincial bronze medal.

McCoy picked up back-to-back victories over Beaverlodge Regional and Brooks Composite to kick off the tournament, but lost 70-52 to St. Peter the Apostle in the semi-finals.

Winning a medal in their final appearances for the Colts, McCoy sent graduating Grade 12 students Ariana Purificati-Fune, Carley Doneff, Annika Gerl, and Hannah Stark away with bronzes around their necks.

Taber’s W.R. Myers Rebels, who beat McCoy in the South Zone finals last weekend, will be going for gold against St. Peter the Apostle on Saturday.
