MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat College president and CEO Dr. Denise Henning has responded following the news that she is leaving Medicine Hat College later this month.

In a statement emailed to CHAT News Today, Henning confirmed her term will end on March 16.

“I am stepping down as President and CEO of Medicine Hat College effective March 16, 2018 to pursue other opportunities and to attend to family matters,” the statement reads. “It has been an honour to serve Medicine Hat College.

“During my tenure here, there have been major accomplishments and amazing partnership’s developed that have connected the college meaningfully to the province, the communities we serve, and beyond.”

Henning joined the college as president and CEO in 2014. Before coming to Medicine Hat, she served as president and CEO at Northwest Community College.

Graham Kelly, chair of the college’s board of governors, said the board and members of the executive team will meet next week to name a candidate to serve as interim president.
