Rooftop Campout for Muscular Dystrophy underway

Mar 2, 2018 | 11:00 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Firefighters in Medicine Hat will be braving the cold and snow for a good cause this weekend.

Firefighters will begin scaling the roof of the Maple Avenue Fire Station at noon on Friday for their annual Rooftop Campout. Firefighters will be on the roof until Sunday at noon.

The annual fundraiser raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada. Muscular dystrophy is a neuromuscular disorder that weakens the body’s muscles.

Last year, firefighters camped on the roof of Station 2 on Trans-Canada Way, raising approximately $12,000.

Those who wish to donate can do so in person at the fire station or online at muscle.ca or by clicking HERE.

CHAT Television will be speaking with firefighters live tonight during the 5:30 p.m. newscast.

More to come.
