MEDICINE HAT – AB, The McCoy high school senior boy’s basketball team know they’ve got to put everything on the line Thursday night.

They kick off the South-East Basketball Conference semi-finals on home court against the WR Myers Rebels (Taber, AB.) The Colts have been dominant at McCoy High School with a record of 4-1 at home in league play, including a 93-58 dust-up over the Rebels back on December 21st.

Head Coach B.J Melle knows his team will be in tough against the 5-2 Rebels.

“They’re always really well coached, Greg Bowes does a great job with those guys. They’ve improved a lot from the beginning of the year. They come in with a football player like mentality, we know it’s going to be a real physical and we know it’s going to be a tough game for sure,” Melle says.

The Colts finished league play with a record of 7-2, with their only two losses coming against the undefeated Brooks Buffalos (9-0). Brooks is also in semi-final action Thursday night against Eagle Butte Talons. The winner of the two semi’s advance into the Championship Final on Friday.

Melle says taking care of business against W.R. Myers is the first priority, then the focus shifts towards the title match.

Spencer Tudor, Spencer Greg, and Deacon Hynes have all averaged double digits in points for the Colts this season.

Kick off for the Colts semi-final is 7:15 p.m from the McCoy Gymnasium.
