REDCLIFF, AB — A 29-year-old Medicine Hat man has been arrested and is facing multiple charges, including break and enter.

According to Redcliff RCMP, Randy Yaholnistky, 29, of Medicine Hat, was arrested on Tuesday, and is facing 17 charges, including break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, flight from police, failing to comply with a release condition, driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

Staff Sgt Sean Maxwell said the arrest happened on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Suffield.

He says the charges are in connection with several recent thefts in the community, including some trucks.

“He’s being connected with several instances that have been going on the last little while,” he said. “This doesn’t solve every single one of them, we’re investigating all of the other ones too, to see if he was involved in some other activities, so there’s potential for other charges to be laid at this point.”

The investigation was a collaboration between Redcliff RCMP, Brooks RCMP and the Medicine Hat Police Service. Maxwell also thanked the Rural Crime Watch and members of the public for contacting police with reports of suspicious activity in Redcliff and Cypress County.

The charges have been sworn against Yaholnistky, who remains in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat provincial court on Thursday.
