Alberta man charged with uttering online threats towards politicians, police

CALGARY, AB — A 31-year-old man from Three Hills is facing charges of uttering threats towards several politicians and the Lethbridge Police Service.

According to RCMP, they received information from the Calgary Police Service about a man making online threats via Facebook. The threats were directed towards former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi and the Lethbridge Police Service.

Dexter Shea, 31, was arrested on February 18 without incident. According to RCMP, Shea was in probation for prior charges of uttering threats.

Shea has been charged with three more counts of uttering threats and one count of breach of probation. A judicial interim release hearing has been help, and Shea was remanded into custody. He most recently appeared at the provincial court in Strathmore on February 20, and he is subject to lengthy conditions.
