OKOTOKS, AB – A perfect cap to the long weekend for the Medicine Hat Can Pak Environmental Midget AA Hounds, taking down two divisional rivals to keep pace ahead of playoffs.

On Friday night, Medicine Hat was able to best Lethbridge in a battle of the Hounds by a 5-2 final, besting the top team in the South Conference.

Brett Gray, Ethan Boutkan, and Aiden Gleisner all found the back of net in the opening period to give Medicine Hat a commanding 3-0 lead.

Medicine Hat extended their lead to 4-0 midway through the second period, getting a goal from Brayden Anderson.

With 5:39 left however, Lethbridge was able to break Aidan Kruger’s shutout bid with a marker from Spencer Kennedy to cut the deficit to 4-1 heading into the third.

Lethbridge’s Dylan Stevenson made it a 4-2 contest on the power play with 12:34 left in regulation, but Gleisner was able to net his second of the night to preserve the win for Medicine Hat.

It was a fairly quiet night between the pipes for Kruger, making 14 saves on 16 shots against.

The Hounds were back in action two nights later, in Okotoks to battle the struggling Midget AA Oilers.

Medicine Hat dominated the opening 20 minutes once again, building a 3-0 lead into the second period off the back of goals from Zachery Dovichak, Braden Larachelle, and Brandon Kasdorf.

Following a scoreless second period, Okotoks was able to net its first of the game off the tape of Kaden Uchacz to make it a two-goal contest.

Dawsen Savage played lights out for the Hounds though, stopping the rest of the shots he faced for a 26-save performance and a 3-1 win for Medicine Hat.

Moving their record to 18-12-1 through 31 games, the Hounds sit in third place in the South Conference with 37 points, but have a better winning percentage than the second place Taber Golden Suns.

With just four games left before playoffs, Medicine Hat heads to Lethbridge on Saturday for a rematch with the Hounds, before returning to the Kinplex on Sunday to do battle with Taber.
