Family Leisure Centre hosting Family Day activities Monday

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Family Leisure Centre is giving families a variety of activities to do this Family Day.

The centre will be hosting a sport-themed day of fun on Monday from noon -5 p.m.

In the Cenovus arena, families can try sledge hockey from noon- 2 p.m. with the Medicine Hat Adaptive Sport and Recreation Association. They can also meet Derek Whitson, a member of Canada’s Paralympic Winter Games Sledge Hockey Team in 2014, in the lobby of the Family Leisure Centre from 2-3 p.m. Whitson won a bronze medal during the 2014 games.

Swimming is also available for families, with patrons asked to pick up a ticket when they arrive for one of two swim times through the day (12:15 – 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 – 4:45 p.m.). The Aquatics Staff will also be running activities such as relay races and waterslide luge.

Families can also play curling and floor hockey in the gymnasium, take part in Nerf Wars in the gymnasium, and create crafts in the boardroom.
