MEDICINE HAT, AB – Close but no cigar seems to be the motto for the Medicine Hat High School Mohawks of late.

After losing by three points at home to the Catholic Central Cougars January 27th, the boys dropped another close affair Tuesday night.

The Medicine Hat Mohawks lost a 109-104 thriller to the Raymond Comets on home court. Eidan Jonker had a breakout night, scoring a season-high 28 points in the loss. Jonker hadn’t scored more than 11 points in any previous game, and was coming off a season low four-points against the Cougars.

Ethan Egert, Bailey Gosse, Parker Davidson and Ben Menesho all put up double figures, but it wasn’t enough as the Mohawks drop to 2-6 on the season.

The Comets meanwhile improve to 7-4, after Garrett Hasegawa, Drake Still and Jeter Heggie all put up 20-plus points each in the win.

The Mohawks head to Lethbridge for a match-up with the Cougars next. Game time is set for Fridayat 8:00 P.M. The Cougars sit two points ahead of the Mohawks in the standings. Medicine Hat has two games in hand on Catholic Central and can steal fifth-place with a victory.
