Environment Canada issues wind warning for Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Medicine Hat and the surrounding area.

The warning was issued at 3:26 p.m. According to a news release, a low pressure centre is forecast to develop in central Alberta later on Monday, bringing strong winds to southern Alberta.

The winds are expected to develop along the southern foothills then spread eastwards, with wind gusts near the foothills being forecast near 120 km/h.

Farther east, gusts are expected to reach 100 km/h. The winds are expected to diminish by Tuesday morning.

Damage to buildings, such as roof shingles and windows, may occur, and loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause damage or injury. Motorists are advised to adjust their driving conditions to the changing conditions.
