Hounds finish weekend with tie, loss

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Can Pak Environmental Hounds came away with a tie and a loss in their road games this weekend.

The Hounds tied the Red Deer Elks 1-1 on Saturday, but lost a close 6-5 game Sunday against the West Central Tigers in Midget AA action.

Matt Lafferty had the lone goal for the Hounds in Saturday’s game, while Jaden Callan had the goal for Red Deer. Both goals came in the second period.

On Sunday, the Hounds were leading 5-3 heading into the third period, however the Tigers scored three unanswered goals to come away with the win.

Levi Schlosser had a pair of goals for the Hounds, while Carson Dingwall, Brett Gray and Zachery Dovichak each potted singles.

Brett McNutt scored two goals for the Tigers, while Khale Skinner, Brandt Seland, Braydon McLaughlin and Adam Sylvester also scored through the game.

Dawsen Savage made 26 saves before being relieved in the third period by Aidan Kruger, who made 13 saves.

The Hounds return to action starting Friday, travelling to Claresholm to take on the Foothills Bisons at 7:$5 p.m. The team is back at home Saturday, hosting Red Deer Canpro at the Kinplex at 4:45 p.m.
