Tigers trade Gerlach to Saskatoon, acquire Lockner and picks

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers Have traded Max Gerlach to the Saskatoon Blades.

Wednesday morning, the Tigers announced they had traded the 19-year-old forward to the Blades in exchange for forward Bryan Lockner, a first-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft and a second round pick in the 2021 bantam draft, as part of a three-way deal with the Blades and the Regina Pats on Wednesday.

Gerlach played three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers. In his rookie season, he scored 30 goals and notched 15 assists for 45 points, and followed that with 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points in the 2016-17 season. So far this season, Gerlach has appeared in 35 games, and scored16 goals and recorded 19 assists for 35 points.

Lockner, who was drafted in the WHL Bantam Draft in 2015, was acquired by the Blades from the Pats in a separate trade Wednesday morning before being dealt to the Tigers. The 17-year-old forward has played in 101 career games with the Pats, and has seven goals and five assists in 39 games this season.
