GAME NOTES: Tigers host Kootenay for Tuesday night test

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers will host the Kootenay ICE for a Central Division showdown. This will be the second meeting of the season between these two clubs. After defeating the Hitmen in the home and home series, the Tigers extending their winning streak to 4.  The ICE will be hungry tonight as they try to end a 3 game losing streak.

Tigers – Max Gerlach netted 2 goals including the overtime winner with just 6.5 seconds to defeat the Calgary Hitmen. Gerlach now has (6G,4A) for 10 points in 12 games. ICE-Colton Kroeker scored the only goal for the ICE last time they visited the Canalta Centre. Kroeker has 12 points (4G,8A) in his last 8 games.

Imports:

The Tigers made a splash at the annual CHL Import Draft this summer. Linus Nassen was selected in the second round by the Tigers and comes to Medicine Hat via Sweden. Nassen was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 3rd round of the 2016 NHL entry draft. To go along with playing some big minutes for the Tigers, Nassen has 12 points in 18 games and has formed a deadly offensive combination with David Quenneville. Kristians Rubins, the towering shut down defenceman who was selected by the Tigers in the 2016 CHL Import draft is starting to find his scoring touch as he now has 2 goals and 5 assists this season.

Protecting the Paint:

The Tigers acquired 18-year-old netminder Jordan Hollett from the Regina Pats in the offseason. Hollett is a 6th round selection of the Ottawa Senators and currently is sporting a 7-3 record with a 3.36 GAA and a .886 SV% The Orange and Black also have veteran goaltender Michael Bullion. Bullion has a 5-3 record posting a .894 SV% and a 3.25 GAA.
