Bar break and enter suspect busted at local hotel

MEDICINE HAT, ALTA-The suspect in two repeat break and enters in Medicine Hat has been arrested.

According to a news release issued by the Medicine Hat Police Service, officers responded to a call of a break and enter in progress at the After Work Oasis in the northeast section of Crescent Heights around 4:20 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Once police reached the scene, a witness gave them cellphone video footage of the suspect’s vehicle fleeing the scene, just before their arrival.

The vehicle was recognized as one linked to a man who had been charged with breaking into the bar back on on October 5th. Following the link, officers located the vehicle at a local hotel along 13 Avenue Southeast, setting up containment on the hotel suite the suspect was inside.

“The suspect eventually emerged from his suite and was taken into custody without incident,” reads the release.

“Police are currently still investigating. Search warrants are being applied for to gather further evidence from the hotel suite and the seized vehicle the suspect used to commit the crimes.”

The suspect, who was out on a $7500 cash bail deposit from the previous break-in, cannot be named prior to the charges against him being sworn. He remains in custody, waiting for a judicial interim release hearing.

His charges are as follows:

-Break and enter to commit

-Breach of bail conditions x 3

-Possess Break in tools

After Work Oasis was previous broken into back on August 21, according to information previously issued by police.
