MEDICINE HAT, AB. – Police have responded to multiple bomb threats at the Servus Credit Union on 8th Street Northwest over the past week and has led businesses in the area to feel uneasy.

Norma Damsgaard, has managed Players Pub & Eatery for 20 years. It is located just down the street from the Servus Credit Union where the bomb threats were made. She said she has never experienced anything like this in her time working there.

“We had to close, everybody had to be evacuated because it was right next door, so the businesses that were closer to where the threat was were taped off and closed up,” she explained.

Damsgaard said her staff have changed their day to day activities during working hours at the pub due to the recent events.

“It’s scary, as you don’t know if it’s real or if it’s just a prank. You watch different people as they come in and maybe they’ve never seen them before. Who’s that? What are they doing here?” she explained.

Staff Sgt. Cory Both said the Medicine Hat Police are doing all they can to find out who is behind the threats.

“We don’t know who is placing them, we take them all seriously looking at each independently and considering the same person might be behind all of them,” he said.

Medicine Hat Police ask if anyone sees something suspicious in the area to call the non-emergency police line.

“Most of them are hoaxes but we entertain and investigate them like they are real as it is concerning, it causes concern to the safety to the members of the public,” he said.

CHAT News Today reached out to the Servus Credit Union for more information. They declined an interview.
