MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat Police continue to investigate after a man was assaulted in a Southview Drive apartment on Saturday.

The man was discovered in a main floor apartment at 2399 Southview Drive SE at approximately 7:20 p.m. He remains in hospital with significant, but non-life threatening injuries.

“What I can say is he’s been unable to provide a statement yet, but we’re very hopeful that he’ll be co-operating, and providing a statement that will hopefully lead to an arrest,” said Inspector Joe West.

West did not get into detail about the injuries the man suffered, or if weapons were involved in the assault, noting the investigation is ongoing

Police believe the suspect gained entry into the apartment through a broken window. The K9 unit was called in to search the area, but a suspect was not found.

Police say at this point, they believe the incident was a targeted attack.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-529-8481, or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
