UPDATE: Grass fire burning near Redcliff under control

Oct 25, 2017 | 6:58 PM

REDCLIFF, AB — A grass fire burning between Redcliff and Medicine Hat kept firefighters busy Wednesday night.

The fire was first spotted around 6:30 p.m., and was located on the south side of Saamis Drive heading into Redcliff.

RCMP had blocked off part of Saamis Drive to allow emergency crews to work, but it has since been re-opened.

Multiple fire crews are currently on scene battling the fire, including three trucks from the Medicine Hat Fire Service.

Fire officials say the fire has been brought under control, but crews will remain on scene putting out hot spots.

There are currently no reports of any property damage other than the burnt grassland.

A wind warning remains in effect for Medicine Hat and area.

We will update the story as soon as more information is known.
