Sears shareholder blames company for failed reinvention

The chairman of the company that’s the largest shareholder in Sears Canada is blaming the retailer for making its problems worse as it tried to reinvent itself.

Eddie Lampert says Sears Canada’s strategy was risky and untested and that his E-S-L Investments raised concerns about the plan that included investing in sales growth.

Lampert posted the comments on his blog in response to a published report that chronicled Sears Canada’s troubles, leading to creditor protection and its decision to liquidate and close all its stores.
