Calgary trailer park residents get another chance to argue against its closing

CALGARY – Residents of a trailer park in Calgary will not have to pack up and leave at the end of the week.

The City of Calgary sent out eviction notices a year ago, stating Midfield Trailer Park needed to be closed due to infrastructure concerns, but a judge has granted a consent order and residents can stay until Nov. 22.

Rudy Prediger has lived in Midfield for 47 years and says it’s his home.

There are at least six residents who have said they will not leave under any circumstance, even if the court decides against them.

Lawyers will now have a chance to gather more information and make their arguments before a permanent decision is made.

Matthew Farrell, who is representing the residents, said the city can’t throw them out without a good, legal reason.
