Mad Hatter & Happy Hatter – Sept 21

Mad Hatter
The construction surrounding South Railway St and the bottom of Sholten Hill is out of control. The traffic is being detoured and a dirt path has been created to add another method of entry…. nobody knows what they are doing or who has the right of way… If this doesn’t end soon or more signs put up… I foresee accidents happening!

Mad Hatter
Why are smokers still throwing their cigarettes out windows while driving, on lawns or roads etc. With the fires out of control, it only takes one.

Mad Hatter
Bylaws are not adhered to and bylaw goes around warning instead of fining.  If someone got a nice substantial fine for not returning the garbage bin in required time, or cleaning up dog waste or weeds in yard.  How often would there be repeat offenders?

Happy Hatter
Kudos to the Pride festival organizers and everyone who attended – what a great event. Thanks Minister of Culture Ricardo Miranda for coming down for this event and raising the flag with MLA Wanner.

Happy Hatter
Happy to see new faces running for Medicine Hat City Council – good luck everyone!

Mad Hatter

Can anyone tell me why, in their infinite wisdom, the fools that “reworked” transit system decided that using a perfectly good transit terminal downtown, complete with bathrooms and weather protection for the riders is not a good idea? Can anyone also tell me why they thought it was a good idea to leave transit riders facing the elements out on the street by the Esplanade, why it is a good idea to congest the traffic on that same road and why those fools that did this don’t have their head on a platter?? City council are a bunch of morons for letting this happen.  GOOD GRIEF!!!!!!!!!! IS THERE ANYONE IN THE GLASS TOWER BY THE RIVER THAT HAS A CLUE?????? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this new system makes absolutely ZERO sense!!!!!!!!

Mad Hatter
So tired of people who have not realized the speed limits in school/playground zones. They START AT 7:30, not seven, not before seven – 7:30 – just like the signs say!!! People who go 30 in these zones before they even are in effect are impeding traffic and being a traffic hazard themselves. Yeah, this is for you, lady in the dark grey Dodge truck with the horse sticker on your back window!! And don’t get me started on the horrific lane change and the speeding on 12th Street NE!

Mad Hatter
To the black sedan who drove straight through the stop sign at the top of the hill on Division, you are a horrible moronic person. It was a busy intersection at the time you drove through going 50, not even bothering to slow down. You are so lucky another car didn’t start going on THEIR turn or your pretty black car would have been smashed. And to be honest, you deserve to be in an accident.

Happy Hatter
Finally council is reversing the changes to public transit!  Those council members who voted against will be remembered at election time.

Mad Hatter
Feeling disappointed at the general community response to the resources we so desperately need in this community. Everyone complains about how “bad” our city is getting, but people would prefer to finger point, blame, and shame instead of opening their minds and trying to become a more inclusive community. News flash people, when a person feels like they belong in their community, they have more respect for their community. Stop bashing all the resources that are trying to help with homelessness, troubled youth, addictions, mental health and LGBTQ, etc. When we become more inclusive of these issues, we have a better chance of resolving our struggles in this city. How about having some positive responses to the suggestions and news stories instead of openly bashing minorities on public social media sites. We need to recognize it is up to each citizen individually to make this city a better place. Mayors, police services and social resources cannot be held responsible for fixing every crappy attitude!!
