Sep 15, 2017 | 10:33 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — It’s incredible what Sage Watson accomplished in her final year of university.

It took until the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in London, UK for the 23-year-old to actually lose a race.

Her journey to the world stage is glittered with several highly prestigious pieces of hardware.

Watson capped a renowned collegiate career with a first place finish at the NCAA Track and Field Championships. From there, she stopped the clock in record-setting fashion at the Canadian Track and Field Championships, and collected a pair of gold medals in her first two professional races.

Although the Olympian didn’t finish on the podium in London, her sixth place finish is the best in Canadian history.

She’s an all-star off the track as well, graduating from the University of Arizona in Marketing with honours. She was also awarded the Most Outstanding Senior in her program.

Now, Watson is resting up ahead of a busy 2018 schedule, and what better way than to spend it at home with friends and family by her side?

Amidst a three-week holiday to southern Alberta, we catch up with Watson to hear the details of a historic summer from her point of view, and how high she’s setting the bar for next track and field season.
