STRATHMORE, AB — A 42-year-old woman from Wheatland County has been charged with more than 300 fraud related offences by the Strathmore RCMP.

Jane Elizabeth Moore was arrested on August 28, and charged with 242 counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of uttering a forged document and two counts of uttering threats. On August 29, she was charged with 67 additional counts of fraud.

RCMP started their investigation after multiple citizens came forward claiming they were victims of fraud. The victims allege Moore had befriended them and convinced them she was a member of a well-known wealthy Calgary family, claiming she had an inheritance of $38 million. Moore was allegedly able to convince the victims to give her money based on the premise she would repay the money as soon as she received the inheritance.

Moore allegedly falsified bank documents and a court order to show she would be receiving the inheritance.

Moore is known to police and has a history of similar offences. She has been known to use several names and aliases in the past, including Jane Seaman, Elizabeth Seaman, Jane Norman, Jane Plimmer, J.J. O’Conner and Jane Smith.

Anyone with information about the crimes, or believe they may have been victimized, are asked to contact Strathmore RCMP at 403-934-3968.
