Dragon Boat team wins in Regina

REGINA, SASK. — Local dragon boat racers are coming home with a trophy after a successful series of races in Saskatchewan this past weekend.

Sister Power, one of three teams in the Medicine Hat Dragon Boat Association, took part in the Regina Dragon Boat Festival on Sept. 2, winning the “B” final and the Survivor Race at the event.

The team raced three times during the day, completing their heats with times (all in minutes) of 3:03, 3:06, and 3:03 to earn first place.

Sister Power also won the Survivor Race, which honours breast cancer survivors, for the second year in a row. The team was able to participate in the Rose Ceremony after the race.

The Medicine Hat Dragon Boat Association practices in Elkwater, and are always looking for new members. Information about the club can be found here.
