MEDICINE HAT, AB — The top tennis players in Southern Alberta are gearing up for the prestigious Medicine Hat Open this week.

Someone very familiar to the winners circle comes in as the number one seed in the Men’s Singles side. Defending champion Calvin Heller, who’s also fresh off winning the City Singles event this spring, takes top spot. Sydney Ebio from Brooks is the second seed — setting up for a potential rematch of last year’s final.

Erika Miller occupies the top seed in the Women’s Singles bracket, with last year’s champion Xiaojiang Dai slotted number two.

More than 100 tennis players have registered for the prestigious five-day event, which begins Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
