LONDON, ENGLAND – Sage Watson is through to the semi-finals of the women’s 400 metre hurdles at the 2017 World Track and Field Championships.

Running in the first heat of the day, Watson finished with a time of 55.06 seconds and crossed the finish line in second place.

Overall, it was the fifth-fastest time of the day and she finished just over half a second back of top-ranked Dalilah Muhammad of the United States.

Trying to finish off a banner year, the Seven Persons native has already won gold at the NCAA Division I Championships, the Canadian Track and Field Championships, and at a professional event in Madrid, Spain last month.

Entering the semi-finals, Watson will be in the third and final heat of the day on Tuesday and will need to finish top-three in her heat to have a shot at the finals.

Semi-final races will be held on Tuesday afternoon, with the medals being handed out on Thursday following the 400 metre finals.
